Do You Qualify for the National Dislocated Worker Grant (NDWG)?

WV Coal Mining NDWG Eligibility must be determined by a WorkForce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Eligibility Staff Member.  You must complete each step in the following Eligibility Process.

  • Step 1:  Contact the Local One-Stop WorkForce WV Office closest to your residence and ask to speak with their WIOA Eligibility Staff Member to schedule your eligibility determination appointment.
  • Step 2:  During your eligibility determination the WIOA Staff Member will inform you if you meet WV Statewide Coal Mining NDWG Eligibility. Please note under some circumstances it may be necessary for the WIOA Staff to place your Coal Mining NDWG eligibility status as “Pending” for further verification from US Department of Labor and WorkForce WV.
  • Step 3:  Once your Coal NDWG eligibility status has been determined eligible, you will need to contact the United Mine Workers of America Career Centers, Inc. (UMWACC). We have offices located in Beckley, WV, phone number:  1- 877-SWV-UMWA and Prosperity, PA, phone number:  724-627-0988.  Case workers at either location will then be able to proceed with the process of registering you as a participant of the WV Statewide Coal Mining NDWG.
